Use Layer Utilities to perform actions on layers in your active document. Layer Utilities contain a single action: Create Area Layer from Grid.
Requirements
Layer Utilities only works on documents that contain a grid created with the Grids and Graticules tool on a MAP Legend layer. No other types of grid can be selected.
Using Layer Utilities
On the MAPublisher toolbar, click the Layer Utilities button or the menu choose Object > MAPublisher > Layer Utilities.
In documents that contain multiple grids, use the ‘Next Grid’ and ‘Previous Grid’ buttons to cycle until the Grid Name, MAP View and Layer, match the grid you would like to convert to areas.
The ‘Output layer name’ field allows you to specify the name of the resultant area layer.
The ‘Cell attribute name’ field allows you to name the attribute that will be used to house the attribute information for the cell references.
Actions
Create Area Layer from Grid
This action converts any grid created with the Grids and Graticules tool into area polygons. The resulting polygon layer can be used to define the bounds and spatial scope of each Atlas page in Atlas creation workflows.
In this example, an index grid created with the grids and graticules tool has been used to output a matching area layer where the cells are now individually selectable polygons.
Notes
This action cannot be used to convert line layer grids into area grids.
