To Uninstall Geographic Imager, follow the instructions for your operating system:
Windows
- If Adobe Photoshop is running, exit the program.
- Click the Start button, open Settings. Go to Apps & features and locate Geographic Imager in the list. Click the Geographic Imager list item and click Uninstall. Follow the Uninstall instructions in the dialog box.
- Alternatively, locate the Geographic Imager setup.exe and run it. Choose Uninstall and follow the instructions.
- A message prompts that all files will be removed from the Geographic Imager program folder. To save custom XML datasource files in the Applications folder, click Yes. To delete them, click No.
Mac
- If Adobe Photoshop is running, exit the program.
- In Finder, browse to /Applications/Avenza/Geographic Imager
- To save the custom XML datasources, move the Data Source Backup folder to a different location. These are files backed up from the last version of GI installed.
- Delete the entire Geographic Imager folder or delete only the Geographic Imager Plug-In folder to keep the other files (documentation, tutorials, etc.).
On Mac, installing Geographic Imager again (new or previous version) will copy all custom files to the data source backup folder.
Files to back up
During uninstall or reinstall, there will be an option to backup files, however, not all files are automatically backed up. You may want to backup certain files so that they can be used again.

On Windows, during uninstall, it is recommended to back up these files. They are backed up to the following location:
Windows: C:\ProgramData\Avenza\Geographic Imager
On Windows, during reinstall, these files are maintained.
On Mac, during reinstall, these files are backed up files to the following location:
Mac: /Applications/Avenza/Geographic Imager/Data Source Backup
