The MAP Validate Location tool is a verification tool that allows users to quickly confirm the geographic accuracy of map content without leaving Adobe Illustrator. With the tool active, clicking any location on the artboard opens a Google Web Map centered on the corresponding real-world coordinates, eliminating the need to manually copy and paste coordinates into an external browser.
Requirements
The artboard must contain at least one MAP Layer with a valid coordinate system. The Map Location Validator requires an active internet connection to load the Google Web Map.
Using the Map Location Validator
On the Advanced toolbar, click and hold the ‘MAP World Location Tool’, then select ‘MAP Validate Location Tool’ option from the flyout menu.
Once the tool is active, click any point on the artboard. A Google Web Map will open in the default web browser, centered on the geographic location corresponding to the clicked point.
The tool remains active until another tool is selected, allowing multiple locations to be verified in succession without reactivating it.
Use the ‘Map View’ drop down to set the map view if you have more than one.
